Awards: “World’s Best” Rooftop Bar at the Wit Hotel
By , August 16, 2011
Designed by Koo & Associates, the Wit is a modernist boutique hotel in the heart of Chicago, in the central Loop area. The 27th story of the acclaimed Wit hotel features one of Chicago’s most happening nightlife spots, a cozy lounge bar with a view, called the Roof. Open 365 days of the year, this restaurant and bar is comprised of four modern indoor and outdoor spaces. The Roof has been voted “best hotel bar in Chicago” by NBCnews Chicago, “one of the world’s best rooftop bars” by ABCnews, and one of the "Top 10 Rooftop Bars" by USA Today.
And since any indoor/outdoor venue calls for a Nanawall, that’s exactly what is used as a separation between the chic spacious indoor lounge of the Roof, and the open-air lounge area outside. When the weather is warm, six panels of Nanawall’s SL70 folding system can be opened, allowing guests to spill out from the indoor restaurant to the patio through the 20 foot wide opening. Outside, large inverted umbrellas shield countertops with built-in firepits, where guests can eat, drink, and enjoy the atmosphere of this popular nightlife destination in Chicago downtown. The retractable glass wall of Nanawall doors can be opened up to utilize the outdoor terrace area during the summer, and closed to keep the indoor restaurant cozy and warm during the winter.
