Technical Description HSW67

The HSW67 NanaWall^® is an aluminum clad wood-framed individual (single panel) panel sliding system designed to provide an opening glass wall or storefront with any custom panel size; see Maximum Size Chart. Varying panel widths are possible with additional tracks in the stacking bay for the different widths. One of the end-panels has to be a swing-panel hinged to a side jamb. Swing-panels are single-acting but can be either inward or outward opening (details shown in the cross-section drawings). Possible configurations and stacking bay options are virtually limitless; see drawings for possibilities.

Frame, Tracks and Stacking Bays

The aluminum head jamb thickness is 2 3/4" (70 mm) and is thermally enhanced with cover plates on both sides. The aluminum clad wood side jamb thickness is 2 5/8" (65 mm). All pins and screws needed to assemble the frame are provided. Head jamb and sills are available in a clear or bronze anodized finish. The stacking bay and the upper track leading to the stacking bay are the same profile as the head jamb. The switching of panels from the closed position in the opening to the stacking bay can be achieved in different ways; see the drawings for possibilities.

Panels

The stiles and rails of sliding panels with interlocking tongue-and-groove profiles have a nominal panel thickness of 2 5/8" (65mm). Standard woods are douglas fir or European pine (keifer), with factory-primed or sand sealed. Units can be factory finished from a range of possibilities; see Finish Options in the General Introduction. Panels are pre-assembled and can be different widths, but stacking bays may need extra tracks to accommodate these widths.

Glazing

Glazed units can be supplied with 1" clear insulating safety glass, insulating Low-E safety glass or other glass as available from manufacturer.

Weatherstripping

Double APTK weather stripping is provided for vertical sealing between panels and between panel and frame; see cross-section drawings. Brush seals with flexible plastic web are provided for all horizontal seals.

Sliding Hardware

For sliding, two load-bearing stainless steel uni-directional carriers are attached to the upper corners of each panel. Each carrier has one glide-roller and two horizontal counter-rotating wheels that roll in the track. Each wheel has sealed bearings and is coated with toughened Polyamide to ensure sound-free running and optimal resistance to temperature extremes. Carriers can easily negotiate square or angled corners without mechanical switches. For any swing panel, an appropriate quantity of hinges is provided.

Locking Hardware

On all swing panels and on sliding panels as needed, a two point locking hardware is provided, consisting of top and bottom locking rods operated by a 180º turn of a flat handle on the inside only. On sliding panels, the top rod interlocks the male locking receptacle with the female receptacle of the adjacent panel. The lower rod is thrown into a designated striker plate in the sill. Standard flat handle finishes are dark brown, white, silver gray, or dark gray. If there is a swing panel, there are the following additional hardware option on the primary swing panel(s).

1. Multi Point Locking. Consisting of lever handles on both sides, a Schlage compatible lockset, lockable latch, deadbolt and rods at the top and the bottom. Depression of handles withdraws latch, lifting of handles engages rods and turn of key or thumbturn engages deadbolt and locks. The solid brass lever handles are available in an oil rubbed bronze or a satin nickel finish.
2. Deadbolt Lock. ADA approved nylon pull handles on both sides with deadbolt(s) operated by a lockset. Turn of key or thumb turn operates lock. Lockset option of having key operation on both sides. To keep the panel closed, a door closer should be field installed.
3. No Hardware. For panic hardware to be installed by others, the main entry panel can be supplied with no locking hardware.
