NanaWall^® VSW65: The Sliding/Stacking Wood Framed System (With Pocket Stacking Options)

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION:

The VSW65 Sliding/Stacking System is an individual single panel, standard wood-framed opening glass wall system, designed to provide an opening glass wall or storefront with any custom panel size; see the Maximum Size Chart. An end panel can be a swing panel hinged to a side jamb. Swing-panels are single-acting but can open either inward or outward; details are shown in the cross-section drawings. Frame, Tracks And Stacking Bays

The head jamb is extruded aluminum, but is covered with wood plates on both sides; the nominal head jamb thickness is 2 5/8" (66 mm) and nominal side jamb thickness is 2 5/8" (66 mm). Various flush sill options are available; also available for interior applications only is a "no sill" option with locking point sockets for installation on the finished floor.

The tracks can be laid out in a variety of configurations. Panels can be pushed out beyond the frame with a switch, and the stacking bays can be positioned anywhere along the track. Various stacking layouts are available as suggested in the drawings. Pocket stacking options are also available.

Panels

Stiles and rails of panels are cross grained, triple laminated, solid wood with interlocking tongue-and-groove profiles; see cross section drawings. The nominal panel thickness is 2 5/8" (66 mm). Standard woods are European Pine or Douglas Fir. Other selected woods are also available. Units are factory primed or sealed. For interior applications, units can be finished from a range of possibilites. Panels are pre-assembled. See the Wood and Finish Section.

Glazing

Glazed units cand be supplied with single tempered, laminated, clear insulating tempered, or insulating Low-E tempered glass or open. If open, standard glass stops and "dry" glazing gaskets supplied are for glass thickness of 1/4" (6 mm) for single glazing and 15/16" (24 mm) for double glazing. See the Glazing section.

A large section of muntin layouts with mullions, solid panels, higher bottom rails, etc., is available.

Weatherstripping

Weatherstripping, consisting of APTK, EPDM or brush seals, is provided for effective seals between panels and between panels and frames. See cross-section drawings.

Sliding And Swinging Hardware

Attached to the upper corners of each panel are load bearing stainless steel uni-directional carriers with two rollers each. Each roller has sealed bearings and is coated with toughened Polyamide to ensure sound free running and resistance to extreme temperature.

Locking Hardware And Handle Options

For each pair of folding panels and on panel(s), if any, provided is two point locking hardware consisting of top and bottom Polyamide capped locking rods operated by a 180 degree turn of a flat handle.

Standard flat handle finishes are dark brown, white, white aluminum or dark gray.

If there is a swing panel, there are the following additional hardware options on the primary swing panel:

1. Multi-point Locking

   Consisting of lever handles on both sides, a Schlage compatible lockset, lockable latch, deadbolt and rods at the top and the bottom. Depression of handles withdraws latch, lifting of handles engages rod and turn of key or thumbturn engages deadbolt and locks. The solid brass lever handles are available in a oil rubbed bronze or a satin nickel finish.

2. Deadbolt Lock

   ADA approved nylon pull handles on both sides with deadbolt(s) operated by lockset. Turn of key or thumb turn operates lock. Lockset option of having key operation on both sides. To keep the panel closed, a door closer should be field installed, but please note that a door closer can only be installed for a swing panels that is attached to the side jamb.

3. No Hardware

   For panic hardware to be installed by others, the main entry panel can be supplied with no locking hardware.
