Designing for Adaptability: The goal for St. Bonaventure Catholic, Davie, FL, school renovation, in partnership with JBP General Contracting, was to transform a large, open room into a dynamic learning environment that could easily adapt to changing needs. The school sought a solution that would allow the space to be partitioned for smaller group instruction while still maintaining the ability to return to its original size for assemblies, meetings, or large gatherings. Flexibility, transparency, and acoustic control were all top priorities in creating a space that supports both focus and collaboration.

Flexible Learning Space Enhances Collaboration and Comfort
Seamless Function Meets Modern Design with an Acoustic Folding Glass Door
The impressive 12-panel acoustic folding glass door creates a 33-foot-wide flexible opening that adapts to the needs of the school day. With sound control of unit STC 38, the minimal interior glass wall partition allows multiple activities to occur simultaneously without disrupting each other or the visibility. When paired with the Flush sill, the Generation 4 acoustical folding glass door also offers safe, unobstructed transitions. It is almost as if there were no wall there at all.
A Modern, Engaging ADA-Compliant Learning Environment
According to the school, the acoustic folding glass door was chosen for its ease of opening and closing and its transparency. “The system keeps the feel of the big room and allows more natural light into the entire space,” says the school. “The noise-dampening quality of the wall also allows side-by-side classroom instruction with minimal distraction. It also complied with all the ADA requirements for the school.”
“I love this wall in the room now. It modernizes the space but keeps the classes organized and engaged,” — Parent
